What are the duties of an Ordnance Officer in Nigerian Navy?

As an Ordnance Officer, you will be responsible for storing Nigerian Navy arms and ammunition and a limited storage for the NA, NAF and some paramilitary units.

You’ll make sure that weapons systems, vehicles, and equipment are ready and available, and in perfect condition at all times.

You’ll also manage the developing, testing, fielding, handling, storage, and disposal of munitions.

What rank is Ordnance Officer in Nigerian Navy?

The rank of a Nigerian Navy Ordnance Officer immediately after recruitment is “Ordinary Rating”.

It is the first non-commissioned rank that successful recruits obtain after passing out of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS).

How much is Nigerian Navy Ordnance Officer paid monthly?

The Nigerian Navy salary is based on ranks.

And since the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) entry rank is Ordinary Rating.

Your salary as a fresh Ordnance Officer in Nigerian Navy immediately after recruitment will be around โ‚ฆ45,854 monthly.

It increases as you advance in rank.

Requirements for Nigerian Navy recruitment for Ordnance

The Nigerian Navy accepts ANY of these O’Level results (WAEC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, WAEC City & Guilds or London City & Guild) at not more than 2 sittings and not older than 6 years from the date of your application.

In your O’Level result,

You must have at least CREDIT in these subjects:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Any other Science subject

Higher education requirements for Ordnance Officer in Nigerian Navy

You are also required to possess:

  • minimum of B.Sc, B Eng, BA (Second Class Lower) Degree or HND (Lower Credit) in any of the following areas: Textile Technology, Textile Design, Graphic Design, Explosives Engineering and Explosive Science and Technology.

Also intermediate City & Guilds or Trade Test II could be considered. Technical bias will be an advantage.
