JAMB change of institution portal opens few weeks after the end of JAMB exam each year and this change goes for a price.
How much is JAMB change of institution?
The cost to change institution in JAMB is ₦2,500 (Two Thousand, Five Hundred Naira) minus bank charges.
Also the maximum number of times you can change institution is TWICE per JAMB exam year and for each time you will pay a separate ₦2,500.
So to avoid mistakes and extra payment, there are some important factors to consider before changing your institution.
What to do before changing your institution in JAMB
You are to:
- Confirm that you are changing to an accredited institution in Nigeria.
- Confirm that the school you are changing to does not have a JAMB cut-off mark higher than your score.
- Use the JAMB brochure to confirm that your course is available in that school.
- Confirm that you have the correct subject combination required by that school for your course to avoid being disqualified during their screening exercise.
- Confirm the Post UTME date of that school to see if the time left is enough for you to register, gather their required documents and prepare to pass.
- Confirm that the school you are changing to 2nd Choice accepts that position, in case you later need their admission.
Also note that schools with lots of applicants are usually unavailable to be chosen in your JAMB change of institution.
So have at least 2–3 other schools as backup option, in case your preferred choice is no longer available.
How to successfully change institution in JAMB
If you wish to do it on phone, it has to be an Android phone, use Google Chrome browser only and set it to “Desktop Mode”.
Follow the procedures below to effect your JAMB change of institution:
- Go to JAMB portal at http://www.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/
- Login with your Email and Password.
- Click on “CORRECTION OF DATA” available on the sidebar or Homepage.
- Click on “COURSE/INSTITUTION”.
A Transaction ID will be displayed on the Confirmation Page of your screen.
Review the details on the Confirmation Page, especially the Transaction ID in a bold red font.
This Transaction ID is useful for all future references concerning the Transaction. A copy of it will also be sent to your registered email address.
- Click on CONTINUE if you wish to pay online with your card immediately.
- On the Interswitch Payment Page, enter your card details.
- Click on the PAY button.
An SMS and email containing your unique Transaction ID and status will be sent to you after payment.
If you wish to use other payment channels like ATM, Bank Deposit or Quickteller, note the transaction ID because it will be required.
After payment, repeat steps 1–4 and continue from step 8 below.
- Click on CONTINUE.
- You will be asked to provide your:
- Year of Exam
- JAMB Registration Number
- New options for 1st and 2nd choice institution will appear.
- Select your preferred choice(s) from the available list.
- Click on SUBMIT to complete your application.
JAMB will now process your application. If Approved, your details will be changed as requested.
How to know if your change of institution was successful
- Click on https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility to visit JAMB portal.
- Login with your Email and Password.
- Click on CHECK ADMISSION STATUS.
- Click on ACCESS MY CAPS.
- Click on MY CHOICES
If your change has reflected, it will show on the list under “MY CHOICES”.
How long does it take for the change of institution to reflect?
The time it takes for your JAMB change of institution to reflect on “JAMB portal” is usually within 24 hours to few days.
However,
It may take longer for it to reflect on your “School Portal” depending on when JAMB sends them the new list and when the school uploads it on their database.
May be within a few weeks to one month or two.
But so far your change of institution was successful on JAMB portal, the school will definitely upload your details for you to register before their Post UTME deadline.
How to reprint JAMB change of institution slip
Once your change of institution is successful and has reflected, you can proceed to printing out the slip through the procedures below:
- Click on https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility to visit JAMB portal.
- Login with your Email and Password.
- Click on REGISTRATION.
- Click on CORRECTION OF DATA.
You will see the option to reprint your JAMB change of institution slip there.
You may download it on your phone, but the printing can only be done in nearest Café, CBT centre, or JAMB office to reprint your slip.
When is JAMB change of institution closing?
There is no official closing date for JAMB change of institution – the portal is always open throughout the admission year.
However,
Each school has its own specific deadline after which they’d ask JAMB to remove their name from the list of available institutions that you can change to.
These specific deadlines are usually when the School Post UTME form is out or has closed for the year and it varies from school to school.
